The Dordogne region of France is steeped in history and beauty. We¹ve selected a few attractions and sites that might be of interest to you on your visit.

Souillac Town is recognised as the entrance to the Dordogne when driving from Paris. Although its history is fragmented, it still remains a historic atmosphere with its crumbling abbey and narrow streets in the old town.  As the hub for this Region of the Lot and the Dordogne there is always plenty going on.

Rocamadour - Since the first monk took up residence in the caves, this cliff-face town has been on the pilgrimage map for centuries, and at one time rivalled Lourdes itself.  The architecture and sheer scale of this town is magnificent.

Sarlat - Beautiful medieval town with narrows streets, lively café squares and landscaped gardens. Probably the best-known town in the region.

Château des Milandes is west of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle.  An attractive 15th century manor with contents that belonged to original owners and to Josephine Baker.  Interesting museum and regular falconry demonstration.

La Roque-Gageac - Of all the villages along the banks of the Dordogne, La Roque-Gageac is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular.  A charming mixture of little winding alleys lined with pleasant cottages, an old manor house, a 20th century château built on medieval lines and a small church set into the face of the rock.

Puy l'Eveque is a very pretty Lot side village built on hill - very much a wine town.  Old houses in golden stone rise in tiers to the church, once part of the town's defences, and the keep, all that remains of the old bishop¹s castle.
